The Tesla saga continues

After yesterday’s storm of bad articles regarding Tesla, the push for negativity is not over yet, as Reuters released an article saying that prosecutors are now investigating Tesla for wire, or securities fraud. Reuters says it got the information regarding it from three people familiar with the matter. A link to the article can be found beneath this post

So what now? Well first of all, the prosecutors are far from deciding how to proceed, so no need to panic just yet. But the wire fraud would come from Tesla not stating clear enough what FSD can, and cannot do. The argument made is that it would be deceiving to consumers.
The investigation is sparked by crashes with Tesla’s, which include fatal accidents.

I think it is quite well known that FSD is not actually full self-driving and that the driver is still responsible, but fatal accidents give prosecutors a good reason to investigate. It is also factual that Tesla, and Elon Musk have on some occasions highlighted how the car only needs a driver for regulatory purposes. What the prosecutors are going after is the comments made by Tesla and Elon Musk promoting the capabilities of autonomous driving.

The security fraud would come from deceiving investors with the representation of driver-assistance systems. This is again based on comments made. From what I understand it’s kind of the same case in a different jacket
